Skits

Me and my group have been working on a skit for inquiry.

First, we brainstormed a bunch of different messages/morals. Some of them we’re: “Hard work pays off, “keep trying” and “you deserve someone who knows your important to loose”. We choose hard work pays off because we thought it was the best one.

Next, We came up with all of the names of characters and a problem with a solution. Our problem was that nobody tried to do work, and the solution is that the teacher inspired them, and they wanted to be sucsessful in life.

Lastly, we came up with our script. We wrote all of the things that the actors would say, and add some actions that we would do when performing the skit.

I enjoyed this task becuase I liked writing the script and comming up with all the character names. I did good at writing the script, I need to improve on nothing.

Statistics

I learnt about statistics.

First, we all answerd 4 questions each, they we’re: Can you ride a bike? Whats your favourite colour? What month we’re born in? And how many people live in our house?

Next, we needed to analyze all 4 of the tally’s. We needed to add the tally’s and find out the frequency.

I enjodey this task because I liked making the tally’s. I did good at making the tally’s, I don’t think I need to improve on anything.

Processed Food

I learnt about evaluating processed food.

First, we read 7 articles that had information about processed food on wether it was good for humans or not, most of them said that processed food can mostly be good for humans.

Next, we discussed our opinions using the extended discussion cards. My question was, How can processed food be bad for humans?

Lastly, we wrote our own opinions about processed food, my opinion is: I think that processed food is good for humans because we can eat it when there is no fresh food to eat, and processing food can kill microorganisms and make food last longer. But if we eat too much processed food it can be bad for us.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt to form my opinion. I did well on forming my opinion about processed food. I need to improve on finding questions.

Poetry

There are many types of poetry, some of them are haiku, cinquain, limerick, and diamante.

Haiku is in 3 lines, and is usually an event in time. The syllable count for haiku is 5, 7, 5.

Cinquain is in 5 lines and it is a story or description using a syllable base 2, 4, 6, 8, 2.

Limerick is in 5 lines and the topic needs to be something that is usually humorous, and is emphasis on the 2nd 5th and 8th beats.

Diamante is 7 lines, but the word count goes in 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1, wich makes it in the shape of a diamond. It uses nouns, adjectives and verbs.

Haiku, cinquain, limerick and diamante are 4 different types of poetry.

Adding fractions

I learnt about adding fractions.

First I watched a video explaining how to add fractions. For example: 1/4 + 2/2 =?, so first, do 2×4, this is 8. Then, do 1×2, and 4×2, the answer is 10 added up. So, the answer for 1/4+2/2 is 8/10. Next I added more fractions like: 1/6 + 1/4 = 5/12, and 1/4 + 2/5 = 3/5.

Lastly I answered a sheet of adding fractions, I did good at this.

I enjoyed this task because I learnt to add fractions. I did well on adding fractions. I need to imrpove on the times tables part.

It is polite to attribute photos, because you need to give credit to the creator.

Netball

We played relay games and played netball.

First, we played a game where 1 team gets into a circle, while the other team had to try and run around them. One team got into a circle and tried to pass as many times as they could, before every person in the other team ran around. My team lost.

Then, we played over and under, we needed to pass the ball over our head, or under our legs and try to get all the way to the end of the court. My team lost the first game, but both teams tied in the second.

Lastly, we played netball. I was one of the players in the middle because I was good at passing and catching. My team got 2 points.

I didn’t enjoyed this becuase I don’t like netball, I need to improve on trying to get the ball before the other team passes, I did good at passing and catching.

Persuasive Speech

The structure for a speech is OREO.

The O stands for Opinion, an opinion is what somebody thinks of something. For example: the ocean is dying.

R stands for reasons, and E stands for explination. An example is: The ocean is dying by pollution, caused by plastic waste, and rubbish.

The last O stands for opinion, this is the over all opinion of the problem. For example: I think that we need to stop ocean pollution becuase it is killing ocean life.

OREO is the structure of a speech, O is opinion, R is reasons, E is explination and O is opinion.

Story Types

There are 4 different types of stories, myths, legends, fables and fairytales.

Myths are stories that explain how things that happen now in the world started, for example. A myth is Maui and the sun, because it explains why we have longer days.

Legends are stories that are about heros, for example. A legend is Rahi and the Patupaiarehe because Rahis wife was kidnapped, and he went on a mission to save her.

Fables are ususaly short stories that teach a moral, or a lesson, for example. The two Goats is about how a tree trunk fell down and two goats wanted to get to eachothers side, but they both didn;t want to get off, so they fought until they both fell off. This means it is better to yield than to come to misfortune out of stubbourness.

Fairytales are stories that have fantastic characters, like siren, mermaid and dragon, for example. The little mermaid is a fairy tale becuase the main character is a mermaid, and there are other mermaid characters.
